Hands-on testing with TextTest
Additional Information
- A laptop is not absolutely essential as it will hopefully be possible to share.
- If you do have a laptop please bring it. You will probably get further with the exercises, and hence get more out of the tutorial, if you install some things beforehand.
Full installation instructions can be found on the TextTest homepage
The main things to have are Python (2.4/2.5/2.6, note *not* Python 3!) and PyGTK (with at least GTK+ 2.10) and tkdiff. Python 2.7 might work but has not been tested.
- Many Linux installations have these anyway. We will bring Windows installers on a memory stick (from previous experience the network availability may be somewhat patchy), but if you can install it beforehand that would be better. Installing PyGTK on a Mac seems to be very slow so you would be well advised to do this beforehand. We will not bring any PyGTK installers for Linux or the Mac so you'll be dependent on the network working if you don't install things beforehand.
You can download the full tutorial zipfile here, this contains the exercises, presentations, TextTest itself and sample exercise solutions. The instructions for the exercises can be found in instructions/instructions.html.
