Tech Team
Help Wanted!
See the Tech Team activities page for the pre-conference plans.
This involves...
- Sorting out transporting kit, mostly power and network cables, from Clockwork Systems offices down to the Conservatoire on Friday 16th.
- On Saturday morning from 0800 we will be setting it up for the tutorials. During the tutorials it will probably be necessary to run in extra cables so that delegates have power.
- Additionally the odd attendee may need help with getting their wireless working, and overseas delegates may want a continental type power strip or UK adapter.
- There will need to be an extra push on Monday morning (19th July) to get power into the various meeting rooms.
- We often make a trip out to buy more stuff...
- We then need volunteers to provide cover during the conference, helping delegates with any connectivity and power issues they may have. Additionally the wireless network will need to be monitored.
- Finally at the end of the Conference all the cables will need to be pulled, packed away and transported back to the Linux Emporium offices.

Talk video recording
Help Wanted!
For this, please consider signing up for a whole day.
In the morning you pick 3 sessions, preferably in the same room to avoid disruption.
You borrow all 3 of the europython team owned cameras.
- You record the first session with the first camera.
- You record the second session with the second camera.
- You record the third session with the third camera.
At lunchtime you return the 3 cameras to the tech crew. (In particular, to MichaelSparks)
In the afternoon, you pick 3 sessions, preferably in the same room to avoid disruption.
You borrow all 3 of the europython team owned cameras.
- You record the first session with the first camera.
- You record the second session with the second camera.
- You record the third session with the third camera.
In the afternoon break you return the 3 cameras to the tech crew. (In particular, to MichaelSparks)
The reason for this odd arrangement of multiple cameras is due to a limitation of these cameras. (they can't run off an external PSU nor charge the battery whilst the cameras are in use - so they can be run for an hour, and then need to have their battery recharged)

WalterPy - I've moved your offer for recording on Tuesday out from tuesday. The reason is because I only need 1 volunteer per session (morning or afternoon), due to the way we have to manage the Europython camaeras. Many thanks for offering, and if you could reconsider the monday, that would be appreciated.
It's my intention to volunteer for this, I just don't yet know when I'm most able to stay in one room. Will clarify this soon -JonathanHartley
Room above can be marked "TBD" and discussed with MichaelSparks . If you know which room you'd like to record, that would be immensely helpful. WalterPy (Room: New Lecture Theatre, then after break: Library Theatre) WalterPy (Room: New Lecture Theatre)
Please note: the 3 Europython cameras are NOT realistically suitable for recording the Adrian Boult room, due to a limitation on their optical zoom.
Additionally MichaelSparks will be recording every day of the conference with another camera that doesn't have this limitation
If you are willing and able to record other sessions with camera, tripod and SD card, please contact MichaelSparks
Please email MichaelSparks directly as well as updating this page. ( sparks dot m at gmail dot com )

Talk audio recording
Help Wanted!
This involves checking the equipment in each room is ok, every half day or so. A check consists of making sure audio recorders are on, changing batteries and copying data to a laptop. Anyone who can volunteer for a single day or a single room would help a lot. Thanks!

Talk audio editing
Help Wanted!
After the conference, from the comfort of your own home, we'd really appreciate anyone who wants to lend a hand editing the talk recording audio files (cutting off rubbish at the start and end) and upload them to the EP website. Anyone who can use something like Audacity (an audio file editor) could help out here. Doing just a few files would help, so don't be intimidated.
There is a post-conference Audio Editing sprint planned. This is planned as an informal event, but it would be nice to know there are going to be others there. Please sign up at the Sprints page. There is no obligation to attend though!
