EuroPython Marketing & Design Workgroup (Marketing Design WG)

WG Scope

Create and manage marketing and design aspects of the conference, in particular: brochures, advertisements, banners, flyers, travel guide, t-shirts, lanyards, badges, panels, logo.

Please also see the Marketing Design WG section in the Workgroup Concept and Workgroup Guidelines document for additional details.

Parcel Handling

  • Starting with EP2017, we will use a local parcel handling company for managing parcel shipments to and from the conference.
  • For EP2017, we are using the company Palaservip which has their warehouse in the conference building. See our sponsors info entry for details.
  • We will also use the company for sending our own goods (t-shirts, badges, attendee gifts, etc.) to the venue.
  • Parcel services should use this email address for notifying us: parcels@…. The email forwards to the MD WG mailing list and can also be setup to include someone local to check the parcels for correct content or damages.

Conference Brochure

Pre-launch website

The pre-launch site is hosted on Tumblr and used until our main website is ready for launch. The purpose of the pre-launch site is to provide a way to display initial information, get some attention for the next conference and have people bookmark the URL. Esp. for the latter purpose, it is important to have the pre-launch site use the same address as the main website.

Pre-launch websites

Note that even though Tumblr does now support HTTPS access for blogs, we cannot use these, since we always setup a CNAME from the main website URL to the Tumblr one.

Tumblr Themes

Here's a list of merchandise we will need for the conference.

Note that we might also want to set up a merchandise shop at the conference (as we had in Italy) to raise funds for the EPS or the PSF. Aside: The EPS does want to get into the business of giving out grants to the European Python community, should the conference profits allow for this.

  • T-Shirts

Sourcing for this merchandise as well as other things like printing can be done across Europe, to get us the best possible value for money. We should identify shops and vendors offering the needed goods and then check how the shipping costs compare to ordering the goods from a local vendor.
